Grindelwald First

Here not only the upper and lower Grindelwald glaciers seek the limelight, instead the four-thousand-meter-high Finsteraar, Schreck, Lauteraar and Fiescherhörner also stick their necks out!

Fifty years ago the “Boss-Buebe“ sang: Paradise lies in the valley below, alpine roses, enzian, snowy mountains and sunshine ... The first of which reached at the time by means of a chairlift for two – whereas today, the vantage point with views over the valley basin from Grindelwald to Eiger north- face as far as the glaciers is comfortably reached thanks to the gondola railway.

The hike to the Bachalpsee lake is classed a classic in the First region. And the attractive postcard print of the lake and mountains is a real and world-famous spot reached within an hour from the mountain station.

The courageous First Flyer took on a 800m flight at up to 84 kilometers an hour, while suspended on a rope!
