Mt. Pilatus

Emblem of central Switzerland and home mountain to the town of Lucerne, that’s Pilatus – from where the scenic "Golden Round Trip" by steamboat, red funicular rail and cableway back to the start makes a memorable trip.

Once a legendary mountain associated with dragons, Pilatus today is a popular excursion point with viewing platform and place of adventure at the door to Lucerne.  Here the world’s steepest cog wheel railway runs from Alpnachstad through the woods, fields and walls of rock on a maximum 48 percent climb. Gondola and a cableway on the north side connect Kriens with Pilatus Kulm.
