Operating since 1893, the open wooden carriages slowly make their way in leisurely manner from Stans direction Stanserhorn – terminating at the mid station after which you board the openair cableway CabriO-a new generation in transport.
Previously three funicular rail sections led steeply up to the summit, whereas today the cable car with open top deck is one of the main attractions – now you can marvel at the sights with wind in your hair and no ropes above your head – as these are placed on the side of the carriage.
You often find a ranger on the round summit path – and these are delighted to give you information on many aspects of this Alpine world. Half way you also spot marmots – as well as the fascinating "Rondorama" revolving summit restaurant – and if you’re up here on Friday or Saturday you can enjoy a candlelight dinner as well!
